hi guys i have hp envy 17t 3200 and i got it two days ago... it is not 3D.. I am experiencing strage problem.. when i plug in headphone , some time i also hear from built in speakers.. when i checked the volume icon in tray.. i found two volumes one for built in speaker and 2nd for heaphone.. when i muted built in speaker then it resolved the problem also when i reduced the volume using volume wheel on right side of laptop , it also worked.. but my question is how can built in speakers produce sound while headphone is pluged in.. and how can headphone and built in speakers delivers sound at the same time.. As you know there are two audio out ports and it happend with both ports.. please advise

This is probably a driver issue. I had the same problem out of the box. I uninstalled the driver and then reinstalled from the one available on the HP site and PRESTO it worked.
Also disabling the "communications headphones" device worked for me, but after the reinstalled driver it was not necessary.
EDIT - I have the same laptop as you -
thanks LT ... can you tell me how can i update or reinstall the driver and which audio driver you are talking about...? Infact i never used window 7 before so having problem with that..

Start button -> Control Panel -> Device Manager. Expand the Sound... section. Find IDT High Definition Audio Codec. Right Click and Uninstall Driver. Check the box to delete the driver software for this device. Let it uninstall. I would restart at this point. Go to HP.com and reinstall your driver from their website (sp56900.exe).
Let me know if you need any more help than this or if it does not fix it. -
Thank you very much LT .. I will try this.. but one more question.. I tried to upgrade the driver first.. but it said that the driver is up to date..MY question is that if this driver is already updated then what driver is there on hp site... I am assuming that they might have same updated driver... but i will try what you told me ...

reinstalling driver was not very effective much.. I have to turn off speakers volume while using headphone... same pronlem .????

Bummer, sorry man. It fixed mine. I would try doing what Kopes said and re-flashing the bios. If that doesn't work then call HP support and see what they say.
Please update us as to whether the bios fixes it. -

I've got the same issue ... my envy 17 arrived last week. Mine seems to be connected to launching Mumble for the time being, but it is quite annoying. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver as well as re-flashed the bios and still have the problem ... anyone else have any ideas to give us a hand?

I would contact HP. See if they can work some magic.
Also try disabling communications headphones temporarily. That seemed to make everything work fine for me until I got things sorted out. -
