I just installed Vista on my Hp Dv2040ca Notebook (Intel Core Duo 1.66 Ghz, gb ram, Conexant High Definition Audio) and I really like it, but I have a little problems with the audio. After waking the pc up, audio doesn't work. I can't hear anything sound, even playing music on it (no sound), until a restart or after a disable/enable from Device Manager. I reinstalled the drivers...nothing. Also, my mic doesn't work, though it shows it is working. What should I do? Also, I was wondering if there is any way to improve the wifi signal...in xp, reception was better than in vista. Thanks a lot.![]()

Yep, it's a known problem. Keep an eye out for a Conexant HD Audio "Waikiki" driver to be posted in the stickied HP Vista Drivers thread -- that's the one you need. HP hasn't put one on their FTP site yet, but as soon as they do, I'll link it there. In the meantime, there's nothing you can do about the mic, but you can go into device manager, then disable the HD Audio device, then reenable it, to get sound back after "wake-up".
The wifi signal issue is one others have reported as well. You can try installing the latest Intel Wifi drivers linked in the same thread, but I don't think it'll change much. On my system, I never have a problem with speed or connection, so I don't know if its just an issue of Vista's indicator measuring reception differently (ie. just shows a lower signal strength with no difference in performance) or if it's really getting less signal.
Hope that helps. -
