    Have Laptop Compaq N610C,P4,512mb ram.windowsxp pro sp3.
    Yesterday it was working.I did not install any new hardware or program.I usde headphone to listen music.Today When I played music,there is no sound.I checked the connections.uninstalled the driver and reinstalled the sound driver but no sound.I checked it has all properties on.no mute on.
    Please let me know what is the problem.

    i know someone who lost the sound because the PSU was not powering it :/

    I cannot hear system sounds? (such as the login sound)
    Can you hear anything out of the system speakers? (take the headphones out)

    I noticed on HP updates that they have an update for that problem. Apparently something happens when you plug in headphones and this update is supposed to fix it. Hope this helps
