    Hi!
I'm new to the forums but it seems already i've got a problem with my laptop. It's less than two months old and is a Compaq Presario C300, with Microsoft Windows XP (media edition version 2002 service pack 2) with Intel centrino. T1300 @ 1.66Ghz... It uses conexant hd audio and was working well until two days ago i lost all sound. It shows it's playing, the volume it turned all the way up, not on mute but there's no sound. I updated drivers, which worked until i rebooted. i updated drivers several times which did seem to work, until today... nothing happened, although the update says it was a success, there is still no sound.

    Please help!

I had a similar problem. Try this: Go into Control Panel; choose administrative tools; choose services. Find Windows audio and click restart. Make sure it is set to automatic on startup. Reboot your computer.

This ultimately fixed mine, although I had to do it a couple of times.

Doing a system restore to an earlier date where you knew your sound worked would be an easy thing to try first.
