    My fingerprint reader stopped working today, Digital Persona now has an "x" on it to indicate zero hardware communication and Device Mgr no longer shows the device listing for it but rather an "unknown" under USB controllers. I have tried uninstalling the unknown, uninstalling the driver, reinstalling the driver, Vista System Restore, Acronis Restore. I even tried the lenovo software since they also use the Authentec hardware. No change, it keeps being listed as unknown. Any thoughts?

    I am using the latest ones from HP, since it does not load correctly in Device Mgr, I am unable to get the version number as it is installed but I believe it is version 3.0

    I swapped the FP reader from my 15" HP but it didn't work either.

    Not sure what is wrong and I am out of warranty as of last month.
