Could someone who has a HP DV8000 (or equivilant 17" widescreen) see what resolutions are available? Is 800x600 an available option? Since it's a widescreen I have no idea if that's even selectable...

The computer will be hooking up to a finicky projector that spits at any resolution that's not 800x600, so whether I order tonight will depend on the answer.

    Thanks!

800*600?I don't think so! I believe the standard for WXGA is 1280*800 and then you move up to WSXGA and then finally WUXGA. THE WuXGA is great for gaming but it will defintely make you blind.

800x600 is an available res w/ the 7400 Go, but someone else needs to verify w/ the 7600 Go. I wouldn't doubt it

A 7600 Go will not have any problems with 800x600. The windows display properties, however, may not let you select a resolution that low. If that's the case you should still be able to select it if you go to Advanced -> Adapter -> List all modes.

The resolution set on the VGA port does not depend on the size of the LCD screen.

It depends on the video card, and even the most basic integrated card will output 1600x1200 and beyond !
