Does anyone know how quickly HP ships the custom ordered nc8430? I'm just wondering because I have an estimated ship date of 9/28. It would be nice if they shipped earlier.

Yes, I have Merom...but what has HPs times been in the past (aka without a supply delay from Merom)?

When I ordered my customized dv5000 it shipped 2-3 days after I ordered it. Then about a week to recieve it.

I don't know why anyone would order from HP, you can find all possible configurations on other retail sites like Buy.com without having to pay TAX.

Usually HP will put a fairly conservative estimate for shipping in order that they will be sure to get it to you by then. I ordered an HP about a year ago and it took about two weeks from the time I ordered until I got it. I know during that time it is painful to have to wait but it will be worth it when you get it as you know it will be configured exactly how you want it. Also, you have to remember that HP's laptops are made in China (consumer line at least is I'm not sure about business line) so you have to take that into account. Anyway, I would say you will almost definitely get it by the 28th and quite likely will receive it sooner. Good luck and happy computing!

I ordered a dv2000t on 9/1. It was supposed to ship today but hasn't yet. And there's another thread in this forum full of people whose computers are held up by customs. Harrumph.

My guess is that one hold up is the C2D, and the other hold up is the US being more careful with large shipments into and out of the US around 9/11.

Either one leads to better outcomes, but I do hope we all get our notebooks soon!
