Hello, I have just seen two BBB threads for HP, and I was wondering what is the process of the BB, I plan to contact them online and file a complaint not on HP, but a different company. How do they work out the problem? And do they really respond and try to help fix the situation?

    Thanks a million!

Thank you for the link, but im also wondering if someone could please tell me their own experience with the BBB?

Also, does the BB actually respond back with a reply from the company or how does that work?

I went through this recently...it was not with HP but involved a laptop distributor. The truth is that the BBB cannot force the vendor to do anything. It really depends on how much the vendor is concerned about a possible negative note in their BBB file. If they don't care, its not going to get you anywhere but could, in theory, cause others in the future to think twice about using that company IF they looked at the company's BBB rating before making a purchase.

First, you will need to do a search on the BBB's website to see if your vendor already has a BBB file. If not, you will have to give the BBB information about them so they can open a file. Second, after your complaint is filed, the BBB will attempt to contact the vendor about your complaint. If the vendor responds, they will let you know and from there you and the vendor might be able to work it out. If the vendor does not respond, the BBB will get back in touch with you to see if you might have worked it out. If you have not, then they will close the complaint and note it in the online file for others to see.

In my case, the vendor never responded. Personally, I found the vendor was much more concerned about me (1) submitting the dispute to my credit card company; and/or (2) posting negatively about the vendor on the web.
