I have a HP Pavilion ze4546SR laptop, after upgraded the wrong BIOS from HP.com, it went blank and can't boot into BIOS/desktop no matter what i do, all lights on near keyboard are on but nothing on screen, i think that i killed it, it is dead now, everything is running but the screen is in black blank, i tried to boot from usb floppy and cd drive, nothing from floppy when power it on, i heard the spinning noise from cd drive but nothing happened, is there anyway i can recover the old BIOS? thanks

I don't think that there is any way to recover the old one
But even if you are out of warranty call HP and give them the softpaq name they will told you what you should do.

I contacted hp and they said that:

"the BIOS is required for the Notebook to boot into an OS. It is the first thing that is to be done. But, since the BIOS update has failed on the system, the only other option left is to send in your Notebook for repair to us. The Mail-in Repair would cost you $298.00"

lol it would cost more than its worth

If you was using both AC adapter and Battery during the update and If you have used the right softpaq, they should take it for free.

    namcongtu,

Did you ever find a solution to your problem?

My niece has the same laptop with the same symptoms.

Did you end up sending it HP?

Hmmm... that's odd. When I have had the wrong BIOS updates and tried to flash them, the system has told me that I can't go any farther with the update. It's really weird how this one just kept on running. Also, I'm not sure how you could send it in to HP without a warranty and get charged nothing. But the best thing to do would be to contact HP through their free online chat and see if they can give you any solutions as to how to fix the laptop.
