Hi guys, im looking for some insight into a HUGE problem, well some of you know from previous threads that I bought the HP-DV6565 laptop in August and then decided to buy the DV-9428 from Best Buy.

I thus advertised it for sale and got a buyer today.

Well the laptop refused to boot, I had it on the charger from a 1:45 to 3:30 pm and it was at 3:30 the screen lit up and then quickly went out with the blue screen and said memory dump.

Note that prior to the screen having lit up I repeatedly tried turning it on and off as well as touching the media buttons as well as trying to turn off the touchpad and it was completely non-responsive.

As well as re-inserted the battery and tunred it on and off I.E. I exhausted all the options.

ONLY the media buttons lit up and the power key and touchpad key.

Well I plugged it out for one minute and then re-charged it and it lit up and booted and everything.

Yes I could finally breathe a sigh of relief and the buyer was happy.

Well that relief was short-lived as I just got a call from the buyer stating that the laptop is now not responding again. He has turned it on and the screen is not lighting up.

    OMG!!!!!

    Im getting a headache honestly.

Im NOT in America so now im going to have to ship the laptop to the US and deal with all of the madness.

If the laptop doesnt work by tommorow im going to return his cheque and ship it back to Circuit City.

Oh before I forget although other links say that the DV-6565us has a nVidia Go 8400m graphics card the box of this one says it has an Intel media accelerator X1300.

What's up with that??? Here is a link saying the laptop has a 8400m card http://www.notebookreview.com/price/default.asp?productFamilyID=990&display=priceDetail

I am sad to say the least and I didnt want to open it and test it because I had advertised it as new, in box and sealed as I know often many persons like the feeling of bursting the seal on new things.

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to why this is happening?

Has anyone experienced something like this?

Thanks in advance for all your help/replies!!!!

Will Circuit City be willing to give me a refund?

Or will it be a replacement?

Thanks again for all the help.

unplug it from the power source, remove the battery, plug in the power source and boot it directly from the power source with no batteries. It should work. Once you have it booted then you can just plug back the battery and it should work from then onwards.
I had similar issue when I first tried to boot my DV9000T. Not sure why it behaved that way .. but hey it didn't do it again :)

Hi kewlguy, I followed your suggestion the notebook booted for a second then crashed with a blue screen stating some kind of error message with the word crytal.

It flashed so fast I was unable to catch the error message.

I suggest returning the unit to Circuit City. If you tried everything to revive it and couldn't... it's defective. Doing all these "experiments" is a waste. I believe nVidia drivers comes with the AMD cpu and Intel core2duo with their own brand video.

Can you believe that Circuit City said that I WILL HAVE TO PAY TO FIX IT.

They said since I did not buy the protection plan and the computer was bought over 30 days they can only offer free diagnostics service.

I would have to pay to fix it. I cannot get a refund and state furthermore that they are out of the DV-6565 model.

The salesperson informed me that I should contact hp directly for any free repairs.

    WTH!!!!!

Its under a one year manufacturers warranty.

Apparently Circuit City only deals with a 14 day return and exchange policy.

This is the kind of service I get for paying over a grand cash at Circuit City.

It was by first purchase there as all my other laptops have come from Best Buy and it will be my last purchase.

I tried speaking with the manager and was denied.

Right now im at my wits end and I didnt even want repairs to be done and this laptop returned to me. I want a brand new one point blank or a full refund.

Edit: The crappy store is Store 3714, 530 Route 10, Livingston, NJ 07039-1714

I don't see what the problem is. After the return/exchange period at most big electronic stores, you are left to deal with the manufacturer for any warranty issues.

Go to the HP web-site to find a local authorized repair center, then call them up.
