I would try to repair with windows disk. It will prompt this when rebooting with windows disk in and select repair to load missing or corrupt files. Hope this helps and post back with results.

No, it will ask which partition and just select the one you're having issues with. XP will wipe out a multiple boot so you should be OK on the HP laptop, but not the Dell in your signature. I know what your saying though I've been down that road myself. XP wipes out all boot records. That's why you always have to install XP first when setting up a multi boot. You should check out the Vista Boot Pro program for managing multiple boots, and it's free. PM me for this if you can't find it.

Which command did you use. Some of these files are hidden by the OS and will have to change the attributes to the file by using specific switches to edit it.

Anyway, the ntoskrnl.exe issue is pretty common. I'd try the Windows disk to repair for whichever OS your having this issue with and post back.

Ah so it was Vista. Yep I remember going through this. Vista seems so long ago now. Thank god! I never had much luck or liking to it anyway. From what I can tell here is that you don't have a startup problem, but the problem is after you get up and running for while is when this happens. I'm guessing you got a bad update (driver) or service pack install that is upsetting something hardware related by the error code given. I would try the startup repair because it will check these files. If that doesn't work Google search "ntoskrnl.exe vista" and see what others are saying they did to fix this. Looks like a guy might have fixed this by running chkdsk command. Also check your Device Manager. Good luck and let me know what you come up with!

I did run windows default repair option which is C:\(Windows)>properties>tools>Error-checking>Automatically check file system error. and also i got a software called vista manager. i repaired windows file by that soft. since then i didn't have any BSOD. i don't know if the problem has been fixed or not as i didn't know if i had a problem with windows file.

I have the exact same problem with my dv8t quad
I have the recurring BSOD with the same file but with different error messages: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and BAD_POOL_CALLER
    it's basically the same laptop.
Glad to know that other people are experiencing the same problem
If you find a solution letme know =)
