I received my new DV4T yesterday.

It was working fine until today the screen turned off. At least, that's what I thought had happened. I was just downloading some files, surfing the Web, and the screen went dark.

I then realized that the screen was still active and all applications were running smoothly...I'd just lost the backlight to the screen. In other words, I basically have to shine a very bright light onto the screen to be able to see anything. Brightness is all the way up so it's not that. ;)

I have to put my face right up to the screen to see anything...but after an arduous process I'm able to go to navigate HP's site to reinstall the video drivers. I restart but the backlight is still off.

If I take the battery off and on then restart, the backlight does stay on for about a minute before blinking out again. I've tried this several times.

Have any others heard of this issue??? Needless to say I'm frustrated.

Sadly these things happen. Fortunately you should just be able to return it and get another machine (or your money back)

Upon further investigation, I think it may be a corrupt driver and/or conflicting driver issues.

I'll continue troubleshooting and update here later.

    Thanks.
