Why does HP have to put in a lousy wifi card with a great laptop... I have the DV6 6190, came with the Broadcom 4313GN card... Which maxes out at 65mbps connection and I can only transfer files among the network at around 3-4mbps... Which card should I upgrade to to fully utilize a dual band N router or is there anyway to improve this one? Thanks

HP has a whitelist for wifi cards.

Any idea where I can find it, I looked on google didnt see anything... I also contacted customer support and for some odd reason they said my bios wouldnt support any other card..

You can also try a usb or mini-usb Dual-Band N adapter which should be ok regardless of you BIOS.

Yes, a USB adapter should work without a problem.

Just how large and what sort of files are you looking to transfer around your house? My dv6t-6000 has Intel's 1050 (I think it is, not certain) and I stream video from other desktops or print hi-res images to a networked printer as well as work with simple file transfers and a personal Sharepoint space, all from wireless, all the time. No issues. Speed it does all this is great to me. Video is not jerky or constantly buffering and printing is almost "instant-on". Is it that the "numbers" you are looking at just don't seem to make sense to you or are you experiencing any real lag or other issues?

I was just trying to transfer my music collection to a network drive. I guess I don't need it on a consistent basis really. I had just purchased a wireless N router mainly for my HTPC and guess I just was a lil disappointed when my laptops network transfer speeds didn't improve much. Thanks for everyones input and help.

You should transfer it thought the usb connection first and then just have it send new ones to it via wifi.
