    Hi all,

Quick question. I have the HP DV7t-2000 laptop (see specs in sig). Would it be bad for the screen (or any other components) to run the laptop with the screen closed? I want to hook it up to an external monitor and just run it like that at times.

    Thanks!

    Eric

I'm looking at my similar DV7t-2000, and at its service manual (PDF), and I think it will be OK. The screen will shut off, and the vents are all on the bottom.

IMHO, it should be just fine. Listen to it at first: if it runs too hot, the fan should (hopefully) go nuts before anything bad happens.
