I've been having this strange problem with my HP HDX 18t battery. For some reason it discharges its self when the laptop is off (just in case anyone's wonder I've been turning my laptop off and not putting it into sleep mode or standby.) It usually looses about 5% of a charge a day for 2 days but for some odd reason it does not discharge below 90% when turned off.

I've run the battery testing program and everything checks ok.

I've charged the battery to 100% and taken it out of the laptop for a couple of days and then plugged it back in and the battery lost no charge.

So I've come to concluded that something is using the battery when the laptop is off and I can't figure out any culprits. I've disabled blue tooth and all the other network stuff and the battery still looses power when off.

I can't find any documentation on it so anyone got any ideas or have a similar problem?

Running Windows 7 RTM and XP dual boot.

Batteries naturally loses their charge and there's nothing you can do about it.

Now I'm not sure why you are experiencing different outcomes when you have the battery in vs having it removed.
