This is just a doubt I have, cause the V2000Z is my first notebook, and I was wondering about the battery.
For start, I wanted to know about the overall life of the battery, how long does it take to start losing it's memory, I know that the lithium batteries have much larger life, but still, i guess they must have a time to start fading. And if someone here uses the notebook everyday on the batteries, more than plugged in, if you have started to notice any difference and how long did it took?
And more, if you guys think there will be original batteries available to buy for this computer a few years from now. Do they use the same batteries for diferent models?
Thanks in advance for those who are always willing to help.
And sorry if this topic is in the wrong place

The battery should last at least an year and a half with regular usage (one year warranty + half an year extra from HP
)It may last longer or it may not, this really depends on the usage and the conditions. You may start noticing decline in the battery power within one year. Generally, batteries do not like heat so it is recommended that you keep the computer cool and if you are not using the battery for a prolonged period, take it out and keep it cold.
V2000z may come with two/three/ kinds of battery: 6 cell, 4.0Ahr; 6 cell 4.4Ahr and the 12 cell battery. Other HP laptos have different batteries so I would not count on battery compatibility in the future (laptops change in size). Currently, V2000z and V2000 use the same battery or at least these I know of. -

It really depends on how you use your battery. My suggestion is to fully discharge your battery once every month. Just run it until it shutdown. In that way, the battery will lose its 'memory'. Having memory effect is a bad thing for battery, so we have to force it to lost its memory.
I think frequently discharge your battery will prolong your battery 'usage memory'Really confused about this memory term.
