Can users of above notebook let me know the battery life they get out of the standard battery.

I seem to get 3 hours (only) on XP Pro without using WIFI - just doing MS office and e-mail

I can get up to 3 3/4 hours on either XP/Vista, minimum brightness, a few tweaks, surfing the net (wireless on). You got to know how to stretch it :)

I have just brought my brightness down to half and it increased by battery life by 30 minutes !!!! That is great.

What other tweaks are you using to expand life time? Would removing the optical drive have any effect.

I don't use the drive and for me the life time is most important because I am travelling a lot and would like to have as much time as possible.

P.S. I am already using NHC and set it to max battery

I also use NHC, so I set the HD to enable spin down. Obviously powerplay is enabled for the graphics card. I don't think removing the DVD drive will do anything, all though if you don't need it and are travelling then removing it will save around 150g. Disable un-needed things like the infrared port etc. Thats pretty much all you can do.

Sounds about right to me especially if it has a dedicated ATI chip.

My 6910p has the Intel graphic card, which I choose because it was supposed to be using less battery.

The published life time of a 6 cells battery is 6 hours for a intel graphics card and 4 hours for an ATI card.
