    Hey guys, tomorrow is laptop order time, and just to be sure I'm not doing the wrong thing, I would like to verify battery life with the P4.

    If there's any difference, i'm looking at the 3.0 ghz with 15.4 briteview screen upgrade, 128mb 9600, 12 cell battery, and 60 gb 5200 rpm HDD. Only 256 megs of RAM on order, and getting another 512 out of newegg.

    I get about 2 1/2 hours with my 12 cell battery. The computer has a 3.2 ghz P4, regular 15.4 inch screen, 64 meg 9200, and the 40 gig drive.

    Anyone know how much does the Briteview screen affect battery life?

    or for that matter, if the briteview screen is "worth it"?

    2 and a half hours is pretty good for a zx5000...most new notebooks dont have much batt life at all because its a desktop replacment

    I'd rather be skateboarding

    Better backlights are always great. There are situations where I would like my inspiron to be brighter. However, that is only in direct sunlight. I would save the 100 bucks and upgrade the resolution. It will pay off since you are getting the good graphics card. It would be a waste not to.

    GPU cooling (100°C->75°C)* Inspiron 8600 * 1.8ghz Pentium M * 128 MB Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo (337/242 -> 400/300) * 2x256 MB DDR2700 SDRAM * Aquamark 3: 24058 * 3DMark'03: 3404 * 3DMark'01 SE: 13120

    Ok, I will upgrade the resulution to the 16xx by 10xx, and forget about the brite view. I can live with the battery life, I could stretch it out according to the review.
