My old Compaq that I just sold showed the battery power in percent. But, Acer and Gateway(That I know of) actually show the percentage and estimated time available like there might be 2 hours, 20 minutes left.

Does Compaq have that type of battery meter on the new laptops like the 6000 series?

Unfortunately they have not implemented this feature on any HP laptop. They still just mention the percent of battery power left.

Install NHC (Notebook Hardware Control). It will not only let you control the speed of your fan but display what you want in the icontray. A small battery icon with the remaining time estimate.

This Notebook Hardware Control, does it take a lot of resources?

Are there links to other programs that you speak of?
