got a newer(used battery) for my ze4610. Same type as the OEM battery. The old battery showed a wear level of 82% by mobilemeter and would only run for about 10 secs before shutting down. I got this other battery and the indicators on the side had 4 bars light up. stick it up and it has a capacity of 73% and was charging. Mobilemeter shows a wear level of 4%. But after removing the AC adapter the laptop shuts off. Mobilemeter shows the charge rate of 1.4watts. I have 14 days to return it so anyother tests or programs i can run to test the battery? thanks

ok, update. if i remove the ac adapter and power it on it will shut off at the exact same spot at the windows boot screen where it says to boot from Windows XP or Windows XP backup line. same spot. It cant be the battery cause when the battery is dead and if you try to power it on the yellow power light will flash meaning the battery is dead. So this thing will power on and shut off at the XP or XP backup line. BUT if the ac adpater is plugged in then it will boot up like normal. I have the Portable power setting on. anyideas

Well, looks like there might be something wrong with the battery connectors or the motherboard itself. The shutting off at startup is wierd but also indicates some problem with the MBs since the system does see the battery, what the problem might be will be hard to diagnoise without checking the laptop.

Are you sure the battery is good?? You could try another one and see if the problem repeats itself. If it does then most likely chronic with something on your laptop.
