Hey guys, I've never posted here, but I have a problem with my laptop.

Its a R4000, about 2 years old, with Vista installed onto it. The problem is that the batter only charges to about 66-69%. If I pull the plug and put it back in, it will charge to slighly higher or stay at the same charge.

Is my battery dead? Is there anything I can do? Thanks in advance!

Laptop batteries only last for a few years, so it may be that your battery is showing signs of aging; I think 2 years is a long time for a battery.

If your battery is in fact dying, the only thing to do is replace it with a new one :)

True, but I dont want to buy a new battery only to find out something else is wrong, or that this could be fixed, ya know?

if you plan to chage your notebok don't buy anithing and save the money for the new one, thats what I would do

have you tried recalibrating it? like discharging the battery and then charging it up again (might have to do this a few times too)

otherwise your battery might just be on its way out

recalibrating eh? I think i'll give this a shot, but is there an easy way of draining the battery besides just leaving it unplugged?

you should have a battery calibration option in the bios setup options. //should be F10 while the pc boots to enter that area....

There have been several articles already written on how Vista drains laptop batteries. I would power down the laptop and let the battery charge and see if it takes a full charge.

If it does boot up the laptop and you may need to change your power settings in Vista. Lenovo and HP have changed the Vista power settings because they were getting complaints of low battery run times with Vista running.

It appears Aero is the culprit.

Well that doesnt make sense to me though, cuz I used to get better battery life then I had with XP. This just came on in the past 2 weeks, I've had Vista for months?

your only chance of sorting this out is to do a battery calibration i think

booyoo, do you have a calibration option in your dv9000's BIOS? If so whereabouts in there?

Your battery is losing its charge. You will need to get a new one soon or just use the laptop with it pluged in
