    Hello ..

why is my hdd still making some acces ? and reading when there is nothing to do :) or how to discover what is my hdd doing .. 250 gb hitachi 5400rpm .. or how to make him quite ..

second q. is that i am using F2.A firmware .. and there is F2.B newer firmware on HP site .. what are your experiences with this newer firmware ?

third and final .. in vista i could not see the estimation of time till my battery is discharged .. not ewen in XP i can see that .. my device manager is showing Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller and Microsoft but my RightMark CPU clock utility says that it is AKITA .. :)

    1) If your using Vista then yes, its known to thrashing the disk. It is usually making shadow copies, system restore points, defragging etc. Theres alot of process that run on the background

    2) F.2A is pretty much the same as F.2B, it just came out a month later. It just adds a small enhancement. The fan algorithm will still be the same as F.2A

    3) Have you tried using NHC on XP?

NHC (notebook hardware control) will stop the HD noise

i am an experienced user .. and i know .. that it is some files in system . that are accesing the hdd .. and there is no need .. for that .

NHC can tweak the HD's acoustic settings. Alot of people with the same issue used NHC as the solution. I suggest you try it..

Alternatively you can try updating your HD's firmware
