The HP HDX18 that I am using has a battery with about 9% wear on it, yet it is at 0% and will not charge.
I know some of you will say the HDX18 is a couple years old, and it's probably time for a new battery, BUT, this HDX18 has spent most of it's life either OFF or plugged into AC when it was being used. BatteryBar shows 9.6% wear.
My question is this--is there any way to help this battery into taking a charge? I've tried multiple AC chargers, but no go, and also tried gently dropping the battery onto a hard floor.
Ideas?
Also, does anyone have any experience with compatible/clone batteries? I'm smart enough to not buy one from China, but there are a few sellers of compatible HDX18 batteries on ebay backing their battery with a good warranty. Granted, I use mine on AC mostly, so I'm not looking for the best battery with regards to runtime, but $50 is a lot better than $140 that HP wants.
Thanks!

probally had a cell collapse, having it plugged into the a/c will run a small charge through it consistiantly, so it has had some load on it (presumably enough) to cause a cell to give out. Is there any bulging or disformatites? I know that's not what you wanted to hear, but I've had more than 1 laptop battery that's a few years old with little 'wear' just die and ahve a cell collapse.
