Is it ok to leave the battery plugged in while I use AC to power up the laptop even though the battery has been fully charged?

Will this shorten the battery life?

I do just leave it in, because if I were to accidentaly unplug it without a battey there goes all the data.
But technically it is better to leave it out when you have it just plugged in because of the trickle charge (where the battery slowly loses charge and then the ac trying to put it back in, thus causing cycles on the battery, though not to many.) And the heat from the notebook will also slowly degrade the battery faster. There is also some more info at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=91846 And if you just want to leave the battery out, it is best to leave it in a cool dry place. Some people even put it in a sealed plastic bag in the fridge.

ya, that is what I said, mainly because it is so cool in there. Lithion-Ion batteries wear faster when warmer. The chemicals in the battery last longer this way.
Though I am not expecting many people to do this. Myself included.

I'll be somewhere for a mth where there's always power outtage all of a sudden. Leaving my batt in while using AC for a mth just in case there's power outtage won't be much of a difference to battery lifespan I suppose?
