Quick question: have you checked what are your power management settings? Maybe the installation of SP1 has changed your settings for some unknown reason. Perhaps before you had it at "balanced" and now it's at "max. performance" or something like that.

how much faster battery drain are we talking about? 30mins or more

I dont see a direct relation between SP1 and the battery. As above, SP1 might have reset some settings unknowingly

I have the high capacity battery and it only lasts about 30-45mins now. I use Vista Battery Saver and all the settings are correct.

What bios version are you using? Have you checked windows update for updated drivers? Is you device manager clean? Does your fan run more often now then before? Which AV/firewall program do you use? Some of these have issues with SP1. If anything, SP1 should add a bit of battery life.

My bios is F.51, yes I have all the latest drivers. I'm using AVG Free.
Its almost a year old should I just get a new battery?

I tried that it says my primary battery was not found. Its definitely in, I've taken it out and put it back in and restarted several times.
