I ran the battery test using HP's battery software and it says the battery need to be replaced..

It does charge from time to time, but only for a few second each time I reboot the laptop.

I was wondering how many years is the warranty covers the battery. I bought it from Costco and I'm supposed to have 2 yr technical warranty(?).

I believe the battery usually has a 1 year limited warranty(whatever that means).

I'm pretty disappointed, I bought my dv6500t from HP last july and the battery is already dead. It lasts about 30 minutes in a full charge.

Yea my 2 yr (close to 3 yr) Sony Vaio battery is still running in good meters, while this little over 1 1/2 yr HP battery is already dead. HP's battery is much bigger but this can't be used for portability, while Sony's can.

Give HP a call, you probably got a defective battery.

Normal time period for a battery to hold up a good amount of charge is between 1-1.5 year.
It also depends on how you use the battery, check out the battery guide for more information.
