    Hi,
About a week ago, i purchased a dv2310 (turion, vista). The battery life is terrible. I'm not playing games, just surfing and using office. i can only get about an hour and a half-two hours life out of it. My monitor is at about 30% brightness. I was wondering if there is something running in the background that i can shut off? Any tips for longer battery life would be much appreciated. Also, i was wondering if someone could tell me what i should be removing/uninstalling from the computer (brand new it came with a whole lotta crap.)

    Thanks a bunch....

Did you calibrate your battery when you first got it? If not, then try calibrating it. That might help.

Try going into power settings and setting it to "Battery Optimized" instead of the default "Peformance Optimized" and see if that helps on battery life.

Vista does have some impact on the battery life on these systems. Even HP seems to think so...

Try disabling Aero when you are on battery, the power saver profile should turn off the glass effects but it might be better to just turn off aero through display properties if you need the best battery out of the system and turn the screen brightness all the way down. I assume you have the standard 6 cell battery, in which case 2-2:15 is what you should expect. I have similar system to yours and the system usually lasts ~2hrs in Vista and 2:20 - 2:30 in Win XP with wifi on, brightness low and light usage.
