    I have a 2month old V2000 with a 3000+ Sempron Processor and a 6cell battery.
Lately, I have noticed that once I unplug the power cord from the back, the battery life doesnt start from 100%. In fact it starts from about 94% and lasts about 2 -2.5hrs max....Is this normal? When I first got the notebook I charged and drained it a couple of times to ensure max battery life....but it doesnt seem to be working as well.
Anyone else have any battery issues? :(

from what I read in your posts seems that your battery life is doing fine.. since I am too using compaq V2405US with Sempron 3000+ and I also changed my HD to 7200rpm one (in wchich tests has shown regarding this 7200rpm HD produces more heat than any other lower rpm HD including the original and should take the more battery life too... but my lappy seems still going about yours battery life which from 2-2.5 hours max.

I'm thinkin to buy 12 cell battery pretty soon, and some people has told me that it can lasts up to 5+ hours battery life. so I think it should be good.

hope this will answer your questions... thanks.. and forgive me if I'm wrong.. :p

I got the similar battery life on my v2405US with 5400rpm drive and 1GB of ram...
BTW, DVD playback time is horrible :p I got it just max out at 1 hr 18 mins at brightless level 5. The CPU always run around 1.2-1.6GHz while playing (included DVD program). I was going to try to force it to run at 800MHz and see if it make any difference.

Your exact thing happened to me where my battery would charge to only 97% on my DV4000 but the problem just went away by itself after a while......weird.....

I mentioned it before also. The included winDVD has some problem and taking too much CPU to playback DVD. I installed PowerDVD and it never took more than 20-30% of CPU running at 800Mhz. Infact at brightness level 3, I was able to play for 2:30( with wireless off).

BTW, mine is 6-cell. (see my sig below for other details)

    Hi Chinna,
Thanks for your info again. I don't have the power dvd and will try to work out with WinDVD before I invest into the program.
Anyway, what version of PowerDVD you have? 6?

See if VideoLAN is any better with DVDs. It's Open Source (free) and plays lots and lots of formats.

I have a PowerDVD 5, BTW it is dirt cheap if you want to buy OEM ( $5 or less including shipping many places).

All Multimedia also works with PowerDVD without HP software mapping too.

Anyone know if HP laptops are smart enough to NOT draw power at all from the battery when it's fully charged and have the AC plugged in? I would rather not take out the battery every time I want to use my laptop while on AC power.

Good luck with that, I can barely make five hours on my Turion with a 4200RPM drive. It will be improbable to get 5 hours on a Sempron running on a 7200RPM HD.

It's actually smart to take out the battery when fully charged and running on AC. It is good to the health of the battery, extends life.
