Let me start with this is my first laptop, my first computer was when the Tandy TRS-80 came out. I've built water chilled systems and was always an AMD man but when I saw the dv9507us for $649 at compusa I had to jump. So far I am really impressed, the first thing I did was install a 2gb stick of 667mhz being that the unit comes with 2 sticks of 512mb and Vista premium preinstalled.

I am looking for another battery, for short life, while I understand is common with 17" lappies, is the only complaint for the heavy use I've put this thing through the last 2 months. I understand that the 12 cell are available and there is a 8cell with extended life available. I'm still researching but any tips or pointers would be appreciated.
I'm also going to be traveling quite a bit overseas (mostly Korean Air) and I am looking for a solid Air/Auto adapter.

I'm glad to have found this site and look forward to contributing what I can.

    thanks,

    bill

FWIW, I have a DV9500T with a HP Auto/Air adapter, and when plugged in, I have yet to ever see it charge the battery (Computer On/Off/AC, DC, or otherwise). The battery seems to discharge very slowly. I dont think it quite has enough voltage. I was very disappointed, and continue to use an DC to AC intverter with the normal power brick with using the computer in the car or boat.

Thanks Joe, Ive read recently that Korean Air might have suspended in-flight use of laptops anyway. I'm glad you game me the heads up on the HP product, kinda sucks to pay that kind of cash for something that doesn't work. I've heard that some airlines provide adapters, of course for a "nominal fee"

    Thanks again,
    Bill

Also does anybody have experience with the extended batteries they sell on ebay? or should I just pony up and but the HP 12 cell one? Thanks

Can anyone give some feedback on the extended battery?
