    Heyah,
I know that there have been many posts of whether to remove the battery while working on AC etc. I have always used to remove it.

Now, I am a new owner of Envy 14. My question is therefore a bit more straightforward - do you in fact, using Envy, remove your battery? I find it quite problematic that I would always have to remove also that small plastic cover... seems to be a bit too much of a hassle.

    What do you usually do?

    Best,
    Theriel

That whole removing the battery thing is for purist (mostly from the old school) trying to eek out a few more months of battery life.

Just leave it in and enjoy.

Like the great 2.0 says, just use it... not sure what you mean by removing it while on AC? I hope you don't mean while the system is running?

I don't think he will remove the battery while the system is switched on. He is just worried about that lifespan of the battery might deteriorate over time if left charging even when full.

I was wondering the same thing myself too. thanks 2.0 for pointing that out.

I agree with 2.0, it is mainly for purists. I don't have technical information to back this up, but I think there is negligible impact on battery life from leaving the battery in while you're plugged into AC power over time. I may do some more research on this.

    Also agree with 2.0.

Personally I've heard more stories about people's battery not working because of the battery connector is messed up than people complaining about degraded battery life. It's because every time you take it out and put it in you're affecting the connectors (especially if you're not careful when doing it). Unless you know your laptop's going to be sitting on a desk on AC power for a week straight (or more) then I wouldn't bother taking out the battery.

I personally have a dell fir 3 years and only recently did the battery get ruined so, unless your keeping your system for that long just keep it plugged in.

Just expect to replace your battery after two years. With heavy use, probably 18 months. Just the nature of the beast. Storing it won't help it last a whole lot longer.

Does removing the battery while the system is running effect the hardware >.> ?
