I'm running windows 7 SP1 on my DV6-1253CA, and I'm getting a warning in the system try saying I should consider replacing my battery. Is this some sort of error or how can I know this is accurate? How long would I have to replace my battery before something bad happens?

It basically says your battery has crapped out and can no longer hold a charge (or the bomb timer has gone off, OEMs include that kind of "functionality" in some of their batteries, they report they are faulty after a certain period of time has passed). That doesn't mean it'll catch fire or anything like that. It just means that your computer will last less than it used to when run on battery.

Yeah I noticed my battery has really been holding crappy charges lately. Infact even within the first year of owning it, the battery wouldn't even last for well over an hour even on the power saver scheme. Maybe the battery was slightly defective and I didn't notice it. Never had any problems with it shutting down on me though so that's comforting to know.
Now I just have to find a Canadian site that sells batteries for a decent price -.-
Battery replacement warning?
