Yes, I searched, and I did see this question asked a lot in the past. However, nothing has been addressed in regards to Windows 7.
Are there any tricks to get the windows battery indicator to show the time remaining in Windows 7? It seems like an HP issue but its worth a shot

I have had a DM3 and a DV6 with W7 an neither shows battery time remaining in W7, I heard that HP disable it.
I wonder if a clean install will fix the problem.
EDIT : you could use the free Battery Bar app. -
anyone got a link to the best app/gadget?
thanks -

I did a clean install and didn't work... must have been disabled through BIOS... i also use Battery Bar like tinderbox...

To be clear, BatteryBar will be able to provide a time estimate remaining on computers where Windows does not. The reason is that BatteryBar keeps track on how long your battery lasts as you use it and bases the time estimate on the usage data collected from your computer.

HP doesn't disable the time left function, it's actually missing from the battery circuitry itself. More cost cutting.
