I got my Beats Envy 14" along with a pair of solo headphones. I have a couple questions regarding the actual Beats processing.

The first question... Does it really make a difference if I plug the headphones in to the Beats audio Jack or the other headphone jack? Anyone notice any difference?

Also, I thought simply plugging in the headphones would transfer the sound to the headphones and mute the sound on the laptop. It does this on my other computers. However, it looks as though I had to go in to the Beats Audio program and change the 'default communication device' to the Headphones as well as the default playback device.

For those of you that use the Beats audio program, how do you have your 'Speakers and Headphones' and 'Independent Headphones' sections set up?

    Thanks much

I don't know if they changed how things work in the Envy 14, but when the Envy 15 came out with Beats, most of what Beats is the modification of the IDT audio drivers to give out more bass and the microphone jack added in some kind of audio chip that enhances sound by giving it less noise. So in terms of headphone jacks, then I would use the Beats one over the normal one.

The Envy 15 never had the latter problem you are mentioning with the device setup since the Envy 15 had only one headphone jack and it was also a combination microphone jack as well, so I can't help you there sorry.

Your laptop should be muting the speakers whenever you hook your headphones up to the headphone port. There is not beats port, just headphones and a combo microphone/headphone. If you plug into the combo port, your computer might get a little confused.

I dont know the difference between regular Envy and Beats Envy in terms of this but I get less static from the headset versus headphone one.
