Is the Beats software that's installed on my E14 Beats Edition standard to all Envy 14's? I've been asked this question a few times on my unboxing video on YouTube and don't know the answer.

    I'm talking about this software:

I believe that's part of the "enhanced Beats experience". I was under the impression that there was also some music production software that comes with it. I DJ/produce and this was part of the appeal to me but I'd be using Ableton Live regardless.

I think the previous 15" Beats Edition came with that high-end DJ software. The 14" Beats Edition does not.

If anyone can confirm whether or not they have this on their standard Envy 14, that would be much appreciated.

I have heard several times that these notebooks were conceived with audio production in mind, so it's good to hear the background on that. I expected some sort of high-end audio software, too, and kind of wish it were there. I'd like to play around and try to create my own remixes. HP advertises these as the first laptops ever created especially for music, but that seems to be vast overstatement. They have very good headphone/external speaker audio. Certain models have a gaudy logo that calls attention to that. The end.

Most people who are serious about music production have shelled out cash for software anyway. Ableton was like 325$. TBH, Garageband is what you want if you're just interested in messing around. I know the Beats software/series is a gimmick, but it happens to be a very sexy looking gimmick that I bought. Although, from what people say, music quality ain't too bad, so I guess it's not total BS.

    Lol and P.S. -

Sorry for hijacking your post Wynand :p

so in order to get an equalizer you have to buy the ugly beats edition? lol

what prevents someone from just downloading this extra software from the HP website and installing it on their standard edition envy? nothinggggg

This is the same software I have on my non-beats Envy 15. I don't think there is any different audio equalization software on the Beats Envy 15 or Beats Envy 14, although the Beats 15 previously included some third party apps that were optional purchases for the non-beats edition.

Well, actually, the folks here are saying that the same software is already on the standard Envy 14, which was my question. So, I'm not sure what you're saying here.

Note as well that one's opinion of the look of a thing is very subjective. Therefore, I'll say the same kind of thing I say to my 10-year-old son: while you may find the Beats Edition to be "ugly," sometimes an opinion doesn't contribute much to a conversation and is best left to oneself.

LOL I wouldn't be offended. Some Beats owners strongly believe they have won the aesthetics race.
