    Hello all,

I've had my DV9500t for nearly two years now and can say that for the most part I've been happy with it.

I've been reading a good deal about the overheating 8600M GS issues and have personally noticed that under load the laptopo does get extremely hot. Usually when using intensive applications (modeling, simulations, games, etc) I try to use a desktop but sometimes I do use this laptop.

I'm planning to get to get a cooler, but was wondering if upgrading my BIOS could also actually help as well. I’ve seen a few posts about the different versions for the DV9500t, but am wondering which version you have all found to be the “best” in terms of thermal management and overall performance (if any difference).

Right now my laptop is running the original F.09. I’ve held off on updating the BIOS thinking if there’s nothing wrong why bother, but now I think that maybe it is time to update, just in case.

    Thanks in advance,

    Frogger538

    Thanks for the reply justinkw1.

I'll flash the new BIOS (F.59 A) this weekend. Hopefully it will be a good preventative measure for any future problems.

Heat won't hurt the 8600M. Thermal shocks will.

What you need to do is avoid powering up the machine when the ambient is really cold. If it's cold, leave it powered on. I do this and the 8400M in my laptop is still in top shape. I overclock it when i'm gaming and still no problem.
