    Hi Team,

I decided to upgrade the RAM on my E14 and searching for something really good or at least as good as the modules I have that are 7-7-7-20 CL.

I was looking at a few manufacturers and found nothing interesting - everything at 9-9-9-20 CL or slower.

As the i5 CPU does not support 1333 that is currently installed it can either be 1333 or 1066 memory.

Any ideas what manufacturer sells high performance RAM?

Try crucial.com.....they seem to offer the "faster" and "slower" memory modules..

If you are running an i5, then you should stick with DDR3-1066. The DDR3-1066 RAM all got 7-7-7-20 CAS Timing on their modules. The 1333 has 9-9-9-20 CA Timing. However, it is important to note that when you add 1333 RAM in a motherboard with an i5, it will DOWNCLOCK to 1066 automatically and also ADJUSTS their timing as well to match at 7-7-7-20 CAS Timing. Just FYI.

I have been using Corsair modules and they are fantastic. However, Crucial, G. Skill, Mushkin, OCZ and Kingston are all good choices.

Thanks for the inf guys - Especially Star Forge as I did not know the standards for DDR3.

Should I assume that all manufacturers like Crucial, OCZ, Kingston, Mushkin etc., are equal and just buy any or is there anything that makes one better than another?

I upgraded my i5-580 to 8 Gb a few weeks after i bought it (had paid $20 to get the single stick of 4gb when i bought it).
I bought the exact same , it was 1333. It was samsung i think.

I went into the HP diagnostic at startup to get the exact part number and looked it up online.

They're probably all the same. Just look at timings and whether it has a limited lifetime warranty which most will have.
