    Note: I live in Canada

My patience is growing thin with the pre-order in my sig that keeps getting pushed back non stop, so I'm looking for a back up plan, and the Envy is it.

I REALLY like the 'Beats' version's colouring, I could use the headphones and the unboxing video someone posted earlier makes it look phenomenal over-all.

I've looked around on ebay for one (new) but the Americans REFUSE to sell it to Canadians! WTH! (I'm referring to the 'cheaper' priced one's)

I'd prefer a 15.6" but apparently the 'Beats' only comes in 14.5" & 17", right?

What shop would I get my 'best bang for buck' from, you guys think?

    Thanks in advance :)

    Oh, and for clarification:

    - Screen can be upgraded?
    - Battery life is 6 hours?
    - The better model for gaming is 14.5"?

My usage would be long bus rides to school, music creation, and using it in class for 3-6hr blocks.

It's a laptop I have on pre-order, but Asus keeps pushing it back NON STOP. School started last week and I absolutely need one for class, but if you don't mind the pre-order wait, which was pushed to October, then: GenTechPC.com for 1499 (great deal)!

The envy 15 beats edition is bad (it's a first generation envy 15, iirc, plagued by heat issues (and has a 4830)).

The 15" has the stronger graphics card.

The envy 14 beats comes with a 768 screen... I don't know if it can be upgraded, but the attraction to the envy 14 (to me) is its radiance screen, so I don't know why anyway would get the envy 15 beats.

You can also order the beats replacement lid and case if you really like that look but want a different display/GPU, etc.

I bought mine at Costco here in the states. Don't know anyone who sells it in Canada, sorry.

Regarding your specific questions above, really the answer would be the same as for the standard Envy 14, except the bezel is the special Beats Edition part. So, you'd have to make sure to get that specifically to go along with the LCD. However, I'm pretty hopeful that it'll be possible, because I plan to upgrade mine to the Radiance as well when I can.

Bottom line is, if you like the look (which I do, quite a bit) and the headphones, then the price difference between the Beats Edition and the standard Envy (spec for spec, meaning without the Radiance LCD) is, I believe, around $150. That's less than buying the headphones themselves, which retail for $199. So, ultimately, not a bad value at all.
