I installed the 12.4 update but now all of my graphics are horrible. Is there a stable driver out there that's good for my 6770m?

    Hi,
I own an HP DV7-6b50ez w/AMD Radeon HD 6700m and Intel HD Graphics 3000.
    Running W8 Pro 64Bits.
Try to make Switchable Graphics to work.
    Works with "fixed mode" but
fail "Dynamic mode". When clic right on desktop and select "Configure Switchable Graphics" CCC does not open.
Tried 12.11 Beta4 or 12.10 with procedure thread#2 but same result.
Somebody have a solution for this please?

Don't try 12.11 Beta. You need to modify your system's feature (Driver Signature Enforcement) to use an unsigned driver and if you're an average user I would discourage you from doing so.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58501-59000/sp58788.exe mght be of your interest. It contains a Windows 8 compatible driver for the Intel HD which could be the problem because the hybrid modified driver you had was made when Windows 8 wasn't ready yet.

After that, reflow and run the above steps to install Catalyst 12.10 over the stock Windows 8 driver.

Thank you but "Dynamic mode" wont work.
    What I did is.
Uninstall all using CCC Uninstall, Program and fonctionalities, then Driver Function to delete all AMD/Intel graphics drivers.
Install manually for HD 6670M and HD Intel 3000, Microsoft Basic Display Adapter
Install sp58788.exe. Select all options install went ok. Dynamic mode wont work.
Install Catalyst 12.10 over the stock Windows 8 driver, select all options install went ok. Dynamic mode wont work.
    Fixed node works perfectly.
Sorry to ask this but are you shure that these drivers support switchable graphics for HD 6670M/HD Intel 3000 ?
Because i read somewhere that these drivers support Enduro switchable graphics and HD 6670M/HD Intel 3000 are not Enduro???
    Thank you helping me.

Can you give some pics or so regarding what you mean by it doesn't work?
Does it indicate only the Intel HD 3000 is active? I use the driver myself and I can say, reference drivers of course don't work 100% completely, probably just 95%.

So here's what happened to my system.
    1. Fixed (Switchable) worked perfectly
    2. Dynamic (Hybrid) works, but here's the catch.
My devices and such would indicate only the Intel HD is working, Catalyst seemed to have forgotten about the dGP (Mine's 6490M), even if I right click Catalyst it doesn't show. In fact *both* are working.

So how do I make sure that my AMD + Intel are both working in hybrid?
    1. Download GPU-Z 0.6.6: de1-dl.techpowerup.com/SysInfo/GPU-Z/GPU-Z.0.6.6.exe it is digitally signed.
    2. GPU-Z is a GPU performance statistic monitoring utility. It reads data directly captured by your GPUs.
    3. After you got it, select your Radeon HD 6770M.
    4. Load your program that requires graphical performance, make sure in "Switchable Graphics Application Settings" that program is set to use the high performance GPU (i.e. Youtube 1080p)
    5. You should see your Radeon HD 6770M picking up core clock speed, memory clock speed and GPU Load mainly - those are indicative that your dGP is being used.

So all in all, in terms of functionality, both GPUs are working. What's not working 100% right is Catalyst. You can't blame AMD for that because they already warned users the software (actually the Catalyst GUI) may experience loss in functionality. Hope it helps.

In Dynamic mode I cannot give you a figure because as soon I clic on "Configure switchable Graphics" CCC close, no message nothing. If CCC was not opened then nothing happens.
In the task bar the CCC icon shows only Intel HD Graphics 3000.

So how do I make sure that my AMD + Intel are both working in hybrid?
I cannot do this because of above!

Is there a log about CCC I might send you?

Concerning GPU-Z 0.6.6, as soon i start it i get msg: Intel OpenCL driver bug detected. Please update your Intel OpenCL driver to re-enable this functionality.
I did not see a n Intel OpenCL in drivers for my HP DV7-6B50EZ!

The OpenCL driver isn't a concern, this has been GPU-Z's issue since Catalyst 12.6, it's not broken though.

By any chances, could you reinstall your drivers by
    -Completely uninstalling Catalyst install manager
    - ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58501-59000/sp58788.exe for stock windows 8 supported drivers
-uninstall CIM, check all options except display driver
    -Install Catalyst 12.10.

If it works, test GPU-Z again on your GPU intensive app.

I'm thinking there could be something that went wrong with your installation. And I meant uninstall before reinstalling.

Did exactly what you wrote above.
Fixed mode works but Dynamic mode wont work. When I clic "Configure Switchable Graphics" Catalyt just close if it has been opened
or if not opened does not open! No error message, nothing.

Sorry to ask this again but are you shure that these drivers support switchable graphics for HD 6670M/HD Intel 3000 ?

Enduro = Hybrid graphics. It's the latest name for AMD's hybrid. Older notebooks with AMD hybrid has switchable too. Again, it is supported. On the other thread, it even worked for that guy.

The driver supports all cards listed over there, Radeon HD 6700 series is among the supported cards. Then again, it is a unified driver. Meaning it'll run on all those supported cards with just a installation file.

Ok, then as I cannot make Dynamic mode with dv7-6b50ez w8pro 64bits, and stock ccc sp58788 + amd 12.10 then it is hardware problem right?

On same dv7-6b50ez with w7 Fixed and Dynamic mode work. So I dont think it is harware as both Intel and HD 6670M works in Fixed mode.

And i found where i read that "Configure Switchable Graphics" does not work with 12.10:
New drivers, now switchable graphics won’t work | User Answer To Computing Errors

On the other thread, it even worked for that guy It is working for me too! but only in fixed mode!

Do you have return saying that 12.10 on dv7-6xxxxx works Fixed and Dynamic mode W8 x64?

    Thank you helping me.

    I don't think it's a hardware problem, just half-baked drivers.

Putting another point across as a long time AMD user. I can tell you AMD, has acquired ATi's sometimes half-baked method of putting out driver updates. That's why on a number of enthusiast forum boards, they often give ATI the nickname "All Those Installs" and that explains the scenario. That is also why my suggestion I made earlier isn't straight forward either. It doesn't tell you to just hit next, next and next till everything installs because it is likely to give broken installations.

Getting a driver to work straight out of the box isn't necessarily possible using AMD's installer, it gives the hell out of an experience for users who have never really been put through the hell while trying to get a AMD driver/Catalyst suite to work.

Nvidia isn't perfect on the driver side either.

Sometimes, the installation package's so flimsy that another approach is sometimes used. Here it is. Basically, it's the act of using
-stock sp5xxxx drivers to install in first place
-removing everything except AMD display driver
    *here goes the different part*
*Install the latest reference driver (Ccc 12.10), ONLY the AMD display driver.
*Run the stock driver installation file, install everything provided *except* the AMD Display driver.

In short, what this approach is doing is basically using a old, working Catalyst software's Control panel, while taking advantages of the performance bumps on the latest AMD driver.

Some people do that on their system if their latest control panel gets issues. I'm sorry nothing has worked for you at the moment. Still, you might wanna give this a try.

Sorry but it does not work either for Dynamic mode. Same symptom CCC close when clic on "Configure Switchable Graphics".
In fixed mode when clic "Configure Switchable Graphics" it works. If battery option is selected then running on battery it switches on Intel. Connecting power AC it switches to AMD RADEON HD 6700M.

Note that my W8pro 9200 is in French, as I am french speaking.

So, dont you think it could be the reason it does not work??
And i found where i read that "Configure Switchable Graphics" does not work with 12.10:

You've tried pretty much all you could, Catalyst 12.10/ manufacturer Windows 8 drivers are currently the *almost complete* version you could rely on. 12,8, the first ever Windows 8 compatible installation suite had a lot of problems, the current one is a lot better but I don't think you can expect it to be 100% working right for you right now.

Again I'll repeat, your graphic card *does* support hybrid. Even more backward graphic cards like mine also support hybrid.

Also to note, Windows 8 is rather new, loss of features/ an increased extent of incompatibility can probably be expected. Again, Dynamic (hybrid) graphics is supported and if that driver doesn't give you that functionality, it's not completely baked.

Solved Win 8 AMD Switchable Graphics FAQ: (by Intel/AMD 3000 + 6770M owner) might be useful.

Yes, Catalyst 12.11 will become official probably at the end of next month... hopefully Do not use the beta because it will require tough to do workarounds to prevent Driver Signature Enforcement from breaking that beta driver.

    Good luck.
