In all honesty, a notebook cooler wont do much on the Envy because of the small vents on the bottom you may get a whole 2C difference. The negative pressure created inside by the fans pumping hot air out is more able to move air through those vents than trying to push it in with an external fan.
Your best bet is to angle the back up (put something underneath the rear to give clearance for those vents to draw air in.

Coolers dont have too much effect on the envy because the main air inlet in through the keyboard.

It's still a good insurance to have one while gaming, I have the Zalman NC1000.

One thing not to forget, if you have a monitor, do not game with your Envy 14 closed ... it effectively slows the fresh air inlet.

I'm skeptical that a cooler would help with the Envy's teeny tiny vent holes. It seems to help a lot with notebooks that suck in more air at a time. My Dell Vostro from 2008 benefited immensely from a cheap Antec cooler I got free after rebate. Gaming temps would go 10-15C lower. [I think this is the reason my notebook's GPU died a lot later than Vostros' GPUs with similar design defects.]

I'm playing the BF3 Alpha right now on my Radiance E14. Don't expect to have an average fps of over ~30fps on medium @1600x900. then again, this is an alpha version so it may improve in the final game.

I have a radiance as well and I never run my 3D games higher than 1280x768 and low/med ... just because it lags a bit and I hate having sub 60 FPS. (i can feel it and it affects my eye/hand coordination because of the slight delay)

Well ill be darned because my E14 runs BF3 alpha around 40 FPS average with lows hitting the 25's but only at 800X600...its really bad, i dont know if its my E14 getting too hot (which it does, low 90 centigrade) or if its the bf3 alpha

i'm running at native res 1600x900 on 11.5 drivers and overclocked 520/830. when i was running fraps it felt like it was lagging me but it showed high 20s to low 30s. without fraps running it felt better. I don't really care about framerates as long as I feel that its playable.

Running BF3 the hottest I've seen my GPU get is 74C and 78C for the CPU. I think around 90C the CPU and GPU start throttling down. Is where you're located really hot right now? that could be what is making your E14 hot. also open up the bottom and clean the dust off the fans/heatsink. I do this every 2 months or so.
