Anyone knows of a good program to burn in the laptop so that i can see if what i got is good? or if i should return it right away to HP....
.. the reason is, i will be bringing the laptop within the month to asia to give to my cousin and i want to stress test it to make sure that everything is fine. otherwise id return it right away to be able to have it changed.
ive been looking at sisoft sandra... anything else? thanks

When I got my laptop I made sure it would run all the Adobe Creative Suite apps and Dreamwaver for my business. I had several of the programs open at once and stuff like that.
That is an expensive stress test if you don't already have the programs.
Good Luck! -
To stress test everything, run dual instances of Prime95 for the CPU(assuming dual-core), 3DMark 05 and 06 for stress test for the GPU. and there are various HD stressing tools available out there. If you really wanna get hardcore, run them all at once.
(note: Attempting to run everything I've described simulteanously will most likely crash your computer. This does not mean that there's anything wrong with your PC.) -
There are a number of online computer tests. Those compare your results to the results of many others.
Pcpitstop has such a test, just an example.
For the HDD, test it with HDtune and compare it on the webpage with other hard drives of your type. -
yeah but is there a non online test of the cpu/mboard/ram/display/hd/etc wherein you can just run for 72 hours nonstop and see if it crashes or not?

Try BurninTest 5.1 from PassMark. They offer a free utility that will run as long as you want and test several components at one time.
