I have a laptop bag and a laptop backpack...
I don't want to put it on its side for fear of hurting the screen. So I won't use the backpack. But what is the best place to put it in the bag? front down or back down?

How do you think the screen will be damaged by carrying it in a backpack?

Just feels unsafe to put the entire weight of the laptop on either side. Putting it on its backside feels safer.

Since it doesn't have a latch.

I travel with mine across the country twice weekly using a backpack with no problems. I just put it in on its side front forwards. It's quite a robust design, the outer casing is quite thick so the screen is better protected. So long as any backpack you use has sufficient padding it shouldn't be an issue.
