Hi, I've just visited the HP drivers website for my Pavillion dv2745se laptop, and strangely enough I saw a new BIOS that came out last month! I thought I signed up for the HP "new-driver" mailing list, but I didn't get any email.

I currently have the F.24 version but the new one is F.27 (sp42186.exe). The enhancements are: "Resolves an issue where the data transfer rate is low for some memory cards.". I'm not sure what that means, but is it talking about the RAM, or a flash drive or something?

So is this new release safe to try? Might there be any other updates than just the data transfer rate fix?

Also on the HP website it said it was released "2008-12-22", but when I run the WinPhlash installer it says "New BIOS F.27, 11/27/2008".

i would bet they didnt send you any thing because bios arent technically a driver but still i would expect the same thing.
transfer rate low for memory cards is for SD MMC ect. its probally got some sort of wor arround for some sort of incompatability or just a better way to transfer.

if theyre on their site i would say they are safe to use, i have already updated my DV4 1028us with out any issues. some times they state one problem but there are alot of other little fixes for it too.

as for the dates, the release date is self explaintory but the bios date that the program says is probally the bulid date when HP got the bios configured and they probally tested them untill they released in december.

@Niku-Sama: That's good to know. I've just installed the BIOS and it works just fine, don't notice any difference other than the memory card update. Thanks! :D
