I see there is a bios update for my DV6T-7000 QE, (f.22), however I have not experienced any of the problems that it corrects. I am also leary of updating the bios due to the many issues people have after such updates. Should I bother?
Does the HP Support Assistant install the bios update automatically or is this something I need to do manually? So far HP assistant has not notified me of an update to the bios.

I'm of the opinion, like you, if it aint broke, don't fix it. The Bios update for mine seems to revolve around windows 8 which I don't plan on installing on a non touch screen laptop, not yet! I'll wait, as most do, till the bugs are worked out, and all the drivers are tested, and working. The Assistant on my DV6 does not install automatically unless you have it set to do so, and I certainly don't have automatic settings enabled on anything as a lot of updates do not apply to my machine nor do all of them apply to yours. My answer, don't bother.

Avoid the F.22 BIOS update like the plague.
Over the next couple of days I will be posting my experience with the F.22 BIOS and all of the problems I have had with it in a new thread.
It caused a "the BIOS in this system is not fully ACPI compliant" blue screen of death in Windows 7 when trying to boot into the OS and when booting from any HP recovery media or Microsoft OS disc on 3 different dv7t-7000 machines.
I see that HP has posted an F.23 BIOS - but I do not see where it specifically addresses this issue.
I have run all previous BIOS' from HP before the F.22 update with no problems. -
