    Bizarre freezing

    I have a Compaq Presario R3360US and for a couple weeks it has been freezing when I play streaming mpegs in WMP 10. I have tried reinstalling it to no avail. Any ideas of what to do would be very helpful. Thanks

    Is the problem just happening when playing streaming video, or does it randomly lock up when just using the notebook? If it's just in WMP10 playing streaming videos, then it looks to be a software problem. Try running the older media player and see if it fixes the problem.

    Goto Start -> Run -> type MPLAYER2 -> Click OK

    From there, try that same link and see if it works better here.

    You can also try to use an older version of WMP. This problem could be related to that specific version.

    You might also do a search of this forum for memory issues. There is a memtest program that will tell you if there is a memory problem. Its seems some of these machines are finicky about the brand of memory they have and even some of the HP supplied memory is causing lockups.
