    Black Screen and no response

    my dv6000 screen keeps going off and the computer doesnt respond. i reformatted my machine but this still happens. i also reinstalled the power management. I have vista installed. all i can do is power the machine off and turn it back on. anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be? any solutions ?

    Is the laptop entering sleep mode when this happens? I know some of the earlier bios versions had issues with sleep mode but I don't know if that's what is going on with your laptop. You can try updating the bios but you really need to pay attention to the instructions with this type of update or you could brick your machine (ie don't interrupt the update operation until its finished, so no tripping over a power cord or forcing the machine to reboot until its done). You can check HP's site for dv6000 bios updates, just check what bios you have installed first.

    i have turned off the sleep mode in the power managerment options and i have the latest bios flashed which is F29 for intel based machines.
