Whenever I boot up my laptop (dv9500t) after the welcome screen it goes blank for about a minute or so with the white arrow. I can move the mouse and everything but it's pointless if the whole screen is black. After the minute it finally starts and everything loads.

I've searched around and only found one thread similar to my case:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=171887

I tried doing what that user did and it did not work. Anybody have any suggestions?

we arent talking about the black screen FLASH
this is a different thing, this black screen stays for about a minute (give or take some) and just shows the pointer

also, im pretty sure this only happens on HP laptops and that its not just a generic vista thing

I disabled the UAC and there is a tweak to disable Vista looking for external monitors and I no longer have the black screen issue.

It's been a couple days actually since I updated vista with those updates. I booted my laptop this morning and the problem still arises :[

I don't want to do a clean install and am thinking about recovering it to its original state later on today. I'll do that and see how it goes.
