I searched for this, but most of the results resulted in laptops that didn't power on with the battery, and one with similar symptoms, but mine doesn't do it all the time, it just did it once.
What happened is, (laptop is about half a year old) after charging it from like 30% to 100%, the battery indicator started to flash. HP's site specifies this happens at either low battery or critical batter (lower than low battery), however mine was 100% when I noticed this.
I unplugged my laptop from the AC power, and it was still blinking, and plugged it back in still blinking (laptop was on while I did this). Then I powered down, and the indicator was still blinking while it was off. So I popped off the battery, and tried the indicator on it by itself, and it turned on and showed full. Plugged it back in, no blinking. Plugged in the AC, charge light came on, but it was solid. Turned on the laptop, everything was working alright. So I discharged it again to about 89%, and recharged it, and everything is normal. In another post I read everytime the person hit 97% it would blink, in this case, it didn't do it again at 100%.
Another thing I did, was run HP's battery check (Help and Support > Troubleshooting tools > Battery Check), that said everything was good. One thing I noted after use of this laptop is when charging the power supply gets really hot, almost too hot to touch (could probably burn if it was touched for long amounts of time) but I noticed this on other power supplies as well (of same and differing brands). Anyone know what's wrong? Seems to be working, but should I do anything about it?
Oh, when I took out the battery, it wasn't hot or warm either.
