I recently purchased an HDX16 with Blu Ray and I just put a movie in for the first time and I can't get the volume to work. Has anyone run into this? Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Brain Dead

Using which output? Built-in speakers? HDMI? Headphones? SPDIF? Are you using factory installed OS? Which version of IDT codec are you using? Which program are you using to play it? What version is it? Did you turn the volume up? Have you tried using another output source? Did you set your desired output as the default device? Which movie are you trying to play? Have you tried any other ones to see if those have the same problem?

If you could please provide more details about your setup (even by mentioning its model number if it's a pre-configured model), it'd greatly help in understanding what the problem might be.

Mine works in Windows 7 Ultimate build 7600 64-bit clean-install with IDT High Definition Audio CODEC 6.10.6232.0 A installed using HP MediaSmart DVD Software 3.0 D 3.0.3309. Sound is audible over built-in Speakers and Headphones with MediaSmart DVD volume at 100%, IDT Master Volume at 100%, and Playback device volume at 32%. Blu-ray video and sound also works over HDMI works with HDMI selected as default playback device.

I'm using the stock speakers, I have a Vista service pack 2 64 bit system, the model is an HP HDX16 with Hi Def., It came with pre-installed HP MediaSmart. If you need more info let me know and I'll do my best.
    Thank you

Did you check the speaker controls and volume? This may seem obvious, but sometimes the solution is as simple as turning it on and/or raising the volume.

It's fixed, I read somewhere that the mute button could be stuck on with no indication. I simply rebooted my computer and it worked.
Thanks to all for the help.
