Why is there no blu ray option for the DV2700?
When one is presented do you think I could swap out my HD DVD drive for it?

HD is now officially dead. Toshiba is throwing in the towel. I wonder what happens to all those HD players!

I would. Seems like HD DVD is going to be history soon.

As long as they make HD DVD data discs it would not be a total loss. But I don't see Toshiba supporting the blank media end of it either. And I don't think there is enough HD DVD optical drives on the market for a third party to make blank media either. Early adopters are screwed pure and simple. If you want the HD DVD for data you might go over to compusa. Somebody else said they were selling the blanks for 50 percent off.

They're probably trying to sell off the remaining HD DVD drives in laptops to customers unaware that HD DVD is dead. Once their stock has run out, they will start selling BluRay drives.

Yes, you will be able to swap it out, but it might be difficult for you, depending on your experience level with computer hardware.

All it takes is just taking out a screw on the bottom and the drive slides right out.

Are they slot loaded? I didn't know that any major non-Apple OEMs used slot load drives...

And some might find that too hard for themselves ;)
