I have a DV5 1010TX, with a Bluray /DVD combo BC5500S. I tried Win 7 to find that the Blu-Ray playback using Media Smart DVD from the HP website is unstable & essentially unusable. With Vista the playback using QuickPlay is faultless. Has anyone else had this problem... & ... solutions?

I'll ask the question another way. Has anyone tried Quickplay 3.7 with Win7? Or has anyone found any other software for Blu-ray playback. I reverted to Vista, so I can't try these out, & I'm not keen to put Win 7 on again till I know that I can use the Blu-ray player.
    Thanks.

i never found a (legitimately) free program for blu-ray playback either. so i went another route. using CyberLink PowerDVD 9.0 Ultra now.

Found a solution. Either using QuickPlay, set in compatibility mode for Vista SP2, or HP MediaSmart DVD with updated video drivers. HP MediaSmart DVD does not work with the video drivers supplied by HP (go figure). I'm using the drivers supplied from Windows Update. The QP button can be made to open HP MediaSmart DVD by editing the registry.
